because it means many different things. In some cases it has to do with budget and expectations for the game, in others it has to do with public approval and marketing budget, in even more it has to do with actual sales and profit made off the game, and, lastly, it can relate to critical reception of the game.

It's hard to really argue what AAA means, as it means different things to different people and different situations.

If we reported every site nobody's ever heard of, there would be maybe 3 new articles a day.

Does killzone 2 deserve a 6? no, it deserves well better, but that doesn't mean killzone's the only game it happens to.

No it's not. XNA community games is for that. XBLA is for established developers that want to make smaller games.

XBLA is meant for developers with publishers. Those publishers are supposed to help push it through certification and help developers with resources. I do think the XBLA certification stuff can be hard, but a lot of the gripes come from people that don't read how the games need to be certified before development.

L4D was playable single player, and still satisfactory (though not as replayable), and I saw a lot of reviews making fun of Gear's plot (in both of it's games).

One was an actual pricecut, and one was a stock clearance. They aren't the same.

M$ can't channel stuff without demand for the channel stuffing. They can't just make people buy more consoles at their stores. They can give them better incentives, but regardless of the stuffing, someone bought the consoles. They can't just ship another 1 million consoles to people and send them a bill without them ordering it.

Demand for the 360 was overestimated that year by retailers just as much as microsoft, just like it was underestimated the next year with a shortage fall...

C# express edition and the XNA library are both free. You only have to pay the 100 for the rights to host your community game and access some features on the XNA website.

slightly agree with C++ though. More difficult, but you can do more stuff with it. If they hosted C++ through XNA community games too, it would be awesome.

XNA is far better than almost anything you'll find for a medium level game library. It's got a lot of very powerful things. you won't make anything in the ranks of gears of war or halo, because those are limits of the programming language itself vs C++.

The library is easily enough to do almost any XBLA game.

no it's not. A review that does nothing but bash the game will have at least a handful of valid complaints. A review that does nothing but praise a game, will give no insight into why you might be displeased with the game.

For example, if every death in killzone 2 triggered a wilhelm scream (it doesn't), I doubt many reviews would mention it. If I hated wilhelm screams with a passion, that might be something that drove me to dislike the game regardless of everything good about it...

go back and watch his 2008 in review/2008 awards, or a couple of his things. Listen to what his complaints actually are instead of what he does to make them sound funny.

He's pretty observational. Or watch his indiana jones movie review (kekekekeke)

He's one of the few actual critics in the industry. A review that does nothing but praise the game is not a good review. Other reviewers tend to ignore bad things if there's a lot of good things, but it's the bad things that will affect your enjoyment most.

He's also brutally honest and very rarely affected by hype.

edit: in an effort to not waste a bubble, I lol'd at the "chest high walls" bit. That is something epic could definitely improve on. Just imagi...

Dude. Very few. VERY FEW. game developers are "Pathetic and Weak".

Not developing games for a system is not a reason for it. Making a crappy game is a reason for it.

It doesn't mean M$ paid them for it either. The console is easier to develop for, and port from PC. Since I'm assuming PC is the lead platform, they just couldn't justify the port price and time to the PS3 with the gains they'd make from the game.

Game goes to 360: developers are p...

it sounds like he's just swearing because he's used to it, not because he meant any ill towards the game.

He might just be tired of kids thinking they're good at guitar because they're good at the game though. He said he liked the music game genre more than other genres though.
